Stephanie Plate
Lead Vocals / Keyboard

Stephanie first started songwriting on piano and guitar in high school, and soon began performing solo at coffee shops and open mic events. This brought her in touch with future husband Ronnie, and the two began what would eventually develop into Thera. While performing and writing music with Thera over the last four years , she also earned a degree in civil engineering from University of Alaska Anchorage in 2009. With a powerful and distinctive voice, Stephanie’s vocals form the centerpiece of the band, combining a unique yet natural sense of melody with a wide range of dynamic attack.

Ronnie Plate
Guitar / Vocals

A founding member of Thera, Ronnie has been writing poetry nearly his whole life. He began to play guitar and write music at 16 primarily as a way to turn his verses into music. After teaming up with Stephanie the two began the synthesis of his poetry and Thera’s developing sound. Still the main lyricist in the band, he has now developed a considerable vocal repertoire as well, which now ranges from mellow harmonies to the impassioned screams that give an edge to Thera’s music.

Benny Maus
Drums

Also an accomplished musician for his age, Benny played drums in Alaskan hard rock/metal favorites Faceless and The Lost Concept for several years before joining Thera. He also eventually stepped out from behind the drum kit and become lead vocalist for The Lost Concept. With such a wide experience in music, Benny combines a naturally powerful sense of rhythm with an engaging stage presence, while also delivering the occasional brutal scream to reinforce or counterpoint Ronnie’s.

Mason Venhaus
Lead Guitar / Vocals

Mason brings a level of musical quality and experience to Thera beyond his years, having played and toured nationally with The Lost Concept and Static Cycle, two of Alaska’s most popular rock bands, all by the age of 20. After first playing bass with Thera in Oklahoma for a short time, he later joined the band as lead guitar player and began helping to craft their music with his unique approach to guitar playing and songwriting. Creating a careful balance of technicality and simplicity, Mason’s guitar parts infuse the songs with a tension and beauty all his own.

Steven Cornfield
Bass

The most recent addition to the band, Steven brings a fresh energy and winning personality to Thera. Following his lifelong passion for music, he attended Visible School of Music in Memphis for a year to further hone his talents, where he sang lead vocals and played guitar in Memphis indie sensations The Appleyard. He then went on to join Thera in the beginning of 2010 after moving back to Alaska. An accomplished musician, Steven is equally capable on bass, guitar, or vocals, bringing a considerable skill set to the band.
